Looking for a local hike you can do from Los Angeles within a day? Sunset Peak Trail is located in Angeles National Forest just on the outskirts of Los Angeles near Mount Baldy. We drove from the beach cities and it took us about an hour on the weekend to arrive at the trailhead. We started our ascent around 9:30 AM & the trailhead parking was already full. Be advised that this is a busier hike on the weekends.
Sunset Peak Trail is a great trail to train on for harder, more rigorous trails. The incline is manageable & fun for everyone! What makes this trail easier than others is that the path you walk on is actually a fire road.
Our Sunset Peak Trail Stats:
- About 7.2 Miles
- About 1,300 feet incline
- About 2 hours total
You would be surprised how many fun, long, & beautiful hikes you can find in the hills on the outskirts of Los Angeles.
I hope to see some of you local Angelinos out there next time I decide to hike this trail! If you are looking for some more local hikes check out my other blog posts!
